On Tuesday, May 14 at 7 pm in Sale Redutowe at Grand Theater-National Opera in Warsaw, there was held a formal meeting which celebrated the opening of Andrzej Wajda Film Culture Center in Warsaw. There was also a concert entitled “Pawlik-Wajda. Inspirations”. Katarzyna Kosicka-Polak from our law firm also took part in this event. For many years, she has been a lawyer at Wajda School and an expert on intellectual property law who has advised film producers.
The evening was dedicated to the film and visual activity of Andrzej Wajda, an outstanding Polish director. It was opened by Waldemar Dąbrowski, the director of the Grand Theater-National Opera. Then guests could meet Antoni Rodowicz, who published books with the paintings of Andrzej Wajda, as well as the director’s friends and colleagues, such as Maciej Karpiński, a writer, screenwriter and playwright, Wiesława Starska, a costume designer, and Allan Starski, a set designer.
At the end of that unforgettable evening, Włodek Pawlik, a pianist and composer, played music inspired by the paintings of Andrzej Wajda, Stanisław Wyspiański, Jan Matejko, Józef Czapski, Jacek Malczewski, Wilhelm Sasnal and other famous Polish artists.
The event was hosted by Magdalena Juszczyk, a journalist. Joanna Rożen-Wojciechowska, the director of Film Culture Center, a film expert and a film historian, spoke about the idea behind the Center and its plans for the future.
